“Happy Mother’s Day” to all of our most spectacular moms!

May has arrived and so we are approaching the end of our 2011-2012 school year! We have had a wonderful year, filled with joy and accomplishments. Our children are continuing to amaze us daily, and we hope that you have enjoyed this year as much as we have. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your children’s important early years! We truly honor your confidence and trust in us.

 Mother’s Tea! The recent “Mother’s Tea” was again a truly memorable and heart warming event! The children tried so hard to remember all the small details, such as greeting their moms, showing them to their assigned table, and pouring tea for their mothers, and more. We would like to thank all moms for participating in the preparation for this special day. Several dads made time from their busy schedules to help with making sandwiches with the children, chopping vegetables, and directing traffic! We would like to thank Doug Ingram for directing parking in such a cheerful manner! In addition to Doug, Carlos Ansoategui, Kevin Morris, Alex Jutis, and Dr. David Skoglund provided their expert culinary skills toward making the tastiest little sandwiches ever, with the enthusiastic help of our children!

 Thank you Mrs. Cooney! Mrs. Cooney, Matthew’s mom, delighted our children with her beautiful singing, and she also brought her guitar! We had so much fun! Thank you so much, Mrs. Cooney!

James’ “Fare Well” Party! All of us enjoyed the special “Fare Well” party for James and his sister Ella. James had the opportunity to wear his graduation gown, and all of us wished him and his family the very best for his and their new life in Ireland!

Gardening Day! The next gardening day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15th, weather permitting. The flower and garden beds need to be weeded after so much rain. We will start right after carpool, before it gets too hot. Please join us for a short time! You will truly love meeting the other moms and helping the children to beautify their outdoor environment!

Thank You! A heart-felt “Thank You!” to all of our wonderful teachers and volunteers! This will be Ms. Colleen’s last year of teaching. She is retiring from teaching on a full time basis. “Thank you!”, Ms. Colleen! Ms. Colleen has been with CountrySide during the duration of her grand daughter Lauren Brockmeyer’s attendance at CountrySide, and Lauren will graduate this May! Our capable teaching assistant Ms. Lauren, will continue her higher education by pursuing her Master’s Degree at UGA. We will miss both Ms. Colleen and Ms. Lauren and wish each of them the very best for their future endeavors! Ms. Navarro, who has taught Spanish at CountrySide for the past three years, will continue teaching with Ms. Hanne during the summer and during the next school year. The children have benefited greatly from her Spanish instruction, and we are so happy that Ms. Navarro will continue teaching at CountrySide!
Ms. Nataly will also graduate with a teaching degree, and we wish her all the best, as well! A great big “Thank You!” to each of these wonderful ladies!
 Ms. Julie Skoglund has been the best room mother we have ever had! She has lent a helping hand whenever she could, and her daily car pool assistance has been invaluable to us! Her enthusiastic energy has generated many wonderful projects, especially the Christmas party, the video, and the numerous cheerful e -mails to other parents! Thank you, Julie, for your terrific attitude, wonderful support, and generous spirit! We thank all other parents who helped make this year so special in countless ways! This has been a spectacular year!

We will be open Friday, May 11th. We completed all parent conferences in April, so that we would not have to close the school for an additional day in May.

CountrySide Montessori Summer Camp! Please let us know as soon as possible which weeks your child will be attending this summer for summer camp. Payment for June’s summer camps is due May 18th. We need to plan in advance for the summer camps, so please let us know as soon as possible the exact times that your child will be in attendance in June and July. Thank you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Hanne.

 Open House: May 20th, 2-4 P.M.! Please invite your friends with young children to visit our school and to learn about the benefits of our CountrySide Montessori School education!

First CountrySide Homecoming! On May 20th, at 5:30 P.M., CountrySide Montessori School will celebrate their first “CountrySide Homecoming” of previous graduates and alumni and their families!

 Kindergarten Graduation: On May 23rd, at 11:00 A.M.! We are planning to hold our 2012 Kindergarten Graduation celebration, honoring the children who will enter first grade this fall. All of our children will witness the festive occasion so that they know how we celebrate graduations at CountrySide. This year’s graduates are: Lauren Brockmeyer, Sofia Diago, Memphis Fellows, Mackenzie Ingram, Spencer Henchock, Andrew Morris, William Oliver, Rohit Rajesh, Luke Skoglung, Nash Skoglund, and James Willard. Congratulations! We are so proud of each of our wonderful graduates! Our dearest wishes accompany each child as they continue their journey of life. We will miss them all!

Last School Day and Pot-Luck Picnic: Wednesday, May 23rd from 11:00 -12:30 P.M. All students will be released for the day (year) at 12:30 P.M. on this last day of school. (No afternoon classes) We hope that everyone will be able to join us as we say “good-bye” to the 2011/2012 school year. Please bring your favorite dish to share with everyone. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other family members are welcome to attend as well!

Read to Your Child Every Day! The single most important help that you can give your child in becoming interested in reading, is to read to your child every day. It is also important for your child to see you reading books or the newspaper. If your child is able to sound out words, encourage your child to read alone every day 10 to 15 minutes. Go to the library this summer, and seek the assistance of the librarian to find simple books suitable for your child’s reading level. The library is an exciting place for children: they have story times, puppet shows, and other fun events. You will also meet other young mothers with whom you can exchange ideas about books and other topics. Don’t forget to encourage your child to work on his/her printing at home.

Thank you for a wonderful school year with us at CountrySide!
