February Highlights: Asia Day, Valentines’ Day, Amazing Classroom Work! Open House, February 24, 11:00-2:00pm!
Valentine’s Day and Asia Day were certainly the highlights of last week, which the children enjoyed to the fullest! The Valentine’s treats were amazingly creative and we thank you for not including candy! The children had the best time looking at each other’s Valentines and admiring them!
Our Asia Day was enormously inspiring and educational to boot! One of our parents who was born and raised in China, told the story of the Chinese Zodiac and he taught us a few Chinese words! We created a colorful and fascinating display with Chinese objects that had been collected over the years or which were brought by our children. Two little girls wore lovely ornate silk dresses! We read about traditional Chinese customs, and read several books about China. The Great Wall was very intriguing to the children as were the dragon dances, fire crackers, and lanterns!
One of our volunteering moms, Ms. Meredith McClean, graciously donated many of the red envelopes, along with the coins, stickers, and special red napkins depicting a dog, since this is the year of the dog! Thank you so very much, Meredith! We appreciate your enthusiastic engagement in our school activities!
Ms. Victoria has delighted many parents by sending them photos of their children’s work at CountrySide! Thank you for allowing us to send these to you! We are thrilled to receive such overwhelming applause for this new feature. Ms. Victoria simply loves sending you these delightful personal photos of your children focusing and enjoying their work! Some parents have posted these special pictures on their face books, sharing them with their friends and families!
During these early months of the year, our class has become “normalized.” They work harmoniously, peacefully, and contentedly alone or collaborating with others, focusing on their work and deriving enjoyment from their “work”! We have a wonderful class of boys and girls!
