Peaceful and joyful learning throughout the classroom

Peaceful and joyful learning throughout the classroom, and older children are giving lessons to younger ones!

Notice how older children love giving lessons to younger ones!

One of the hallmarks of a Montessori education is the mixed age group setting within a classroom. Younger children receive lessons from their primary guide as well as from older children, most of whom have been in the classroom for two or three years! Learning is reinforced when a child gives a new lesson to another classmate, and younger children love when older children give them lessons. Notice how many children are working together, harmoniously solving problems, and enjoying the process of cooperative learning. It is truly a special joy to observe the calmness and the pleasure that one can see on the children’s faces, when children delight in new discoveries and learning!
